Inexpensive, it does exactly what it says it well. The dog makes a loud noise, and it makes an ultrasonic sound and distracts them - usually. This qualification is actually a good thing. Strangers, and other dogs will cause our dog to bark, and it isn't distracted by the ultrasonic sound. Barking because its bored, or wants to come inside in the morning, it appears to work reliably in distracting her. Our dog, an older Jack Russell Terrier quickly learned, and so we only needed this collar for about a week, so I can't comment on battery life. A new puppy has just arrived, so I am keeping it handy, for when she is ready to train. It is too big and probably ineffective on a young puppy.
